Floral Design Work Styled Shoots

Vintage Farm-Styled Shoot

In early December 2017, I had the opportunity to participate in a styled shoot hosted by Newton’s Bend Farm. Today I’m pleased to share some of the behind-the-scenes details and showcase some of the fabulous vendors that worked with me on this shoot.

As a wedding planner, I never want to recommend another vendor to a client unless I have worked with them and seen fabulous results in the past. But I LOVE meeting new vendors and of course am always looking for more vendors to add to my referral list. A styled shoot is a great way to connect with other vendors in the area. I was thrilled with the outcome of this shoot, and I can say with certainty that I’ve added several great vendors to my must-use-again list.

Event Design

The theme and style of the shoot was designed by Nicole Bruce of Wanderlust Photography. She chose the colors of pale pink, green, and gold for this vintage-inspired barn shoot.  She hosted one vendor from each category, except for photography, where we had several. I have to say that I loved this idea, as we were able to capture multiple view points of the same event. Each photographer had their own unique style and strengths.

Venue

Newton’s Bend Farm is a recently-established wedding venue in Cookeville, Tennessee. The farm is a bit off-the-beaten-path, surrounded by woods in the beautiful countryside of Middle TN. There is an intimate barn, which made a perfect photo spot for our shoot. The rest of the property consists of a huge expanse of neatly-trimmed field, which would be perfect for a big wedding, either entirely outdoors or with a large tent. The sunset streaming through the trees made perfect golden-hour photos.

The Bride & Groom

I am so grateful to Cody & Kristen, who volunteered to be models for the shoot. Doesn’t Kristen look amazing in that dress?!?! The veil was donated by Over the Moon Bridal, and you can buy this exact veil on their Etsy shop. Hair and make-up was done by Shani Gailbreath, and I have to say, she did an awesome job! In my opinion, many stylists go too over-the-top for wedding day make-up. Personally, I love this light look, which highlights the bride’s natural beauty instead of covering it up.

The Table

I am absolutely in love with this vintage tableware from Tea & Old Roses. Although based in Birmingham, these ladies can travel to surrounding areas, and we were so lucky that they were willing to come all the way to Cookeville. All of their china is vintage, and you can mix and match based on your preferred color scheme. I love that this provides variety in place settings, but fits so well into the overall vintage theme. I have SO many brides who are planning vintage weddings right now, and I will without-a-doubt be referring them to Tea & Old Roses.

Linens were provided by Kat’s Linens, and during the shoot I was fortunate enough to be able to chat with Kat and learn a little about her story. She has been building her linen collection piece-by-piece over the years. If she doesn’t have a specific linen that a bride wants, she can get it for you!

Special Touches

Calligraphy was provided by The Artisan Abode. I’m a little bit obsessed with paper products, and this work is just gorgeous! So of course I had to start following The Artisan Abode on Instagram, and I just love their feed. Check out their Etsy shop for place cards, bridal hangers, personalized gift bags, and so much more!

Finally, we had Grace McCaw playing violin throughout the shoot. That girl has so much talent! I booked a solo violinist for my own wedding ceremony. I might be biased, but I think it is a great choice for all settings, and especially for outdoor weddings that are not easily accessible for a DJ.
