Floral Design Work Real Weddings

Vintage chic at the Barn at Sycamore Farms

Joel and Megan win my award from farthest-away planning clients. They Skyped in for our planning sessions all the way from Dubai! Needless to say, I had to do a bit of math to calculate time zones for our appointment times.

For this wedding I was able to do full planning, design, and flowers, which I love because I’m able to work with a couple over time and truly get to know them. Joel took a very active part in the planning and attended all our meetings. I always appreciate when groom’s get involved because they bring a unique perspective to the planning process. Joel looks like the happiest guy in the world on his wedding day. And isn’t Megan’s dress stunning?!? I’m not a fashion major, but I’m pretty sure she’s rocking that pastel flower print.

The wedding took place at The Barn at Sycamore Farms on a hot day in July. Luckily Sycamore Farms is air-conditioned like no regular barn you’ve ever seen, which brings some relief to guests after a ceremony at the on-site island in the sun.

The Barn at Sycamore Farms is a designer’s dream thanks to their prop room. The room is full of furniture, décor, and almost every kind of rustic-design prop that you could need for your wedding day. When working with a budget, it is so nice to just be able to pull table numbers, signs, easels, etc. out of the closet instead of buying everything individually. We used the couches and chairs to make a lounge space on the patio for cocktail hour, signs for the ceremony, and lanterns and table numbers to go with the centerpieces.

For table design we selected pale pink linens with navy napkins, mismatched vintage plates and antique glass goblet style water glasses, all from Southern Events. Centerpieces were kept minimal with dried grasses, wheat, Italian ruscus greenery, and ivory roses and scabiosa flowers. We supplemented centerpieces with votives, lanterns, and table numbers from the prop room at Sycamore Farms.

I loved designing these bouquets of ivory flowers and grasses. You know the best think about using dried flowers on your wedding day? They won’t die in the 100+-degree Tennessee summer heat!

Flower designs included roses, scabiosa, dried grasses & wheat, and ruscus greenery

Guests enjoyed a BBQ dinner from Famous Dave’s and donuts from the famous Five Daughter’s Bakery. After the sun went down they all moved outside to the patio for corn hole and relaxed conversation, followed by partying into the night courtesy of Nashville Party Authority. When people literally fly across the world for a wedding they party until you kick them out!
