Featured Real Wedding: Legend of Zelda meets Game of Thrones

If there is one thing that I appreciate, it is a couple that plans a wedding that is true to themselves rather than catering to the wishes of others. It is YOUR day, and we should do it YOUR way. Nick and Cari were so much fun to work with, and they managed to host a truly one-of-a-kind event while keeping it classy.

The theme of the wedding was part Legend of Zelda, part Game of Thrones, part general fantasy world. Of all the details they included, my favorite piece was how Nick and Cari managed to dress the part without getting too costume-y. They have an eye for the dramatic, which made for some truly amazing portrait shots.

As you can see, the groom carried a sword, and I still get questions about where he got that thing every time I share the photos (the answer is Etsy, sorry I don’t know the specific shop).

Bridesmaids carried lanterns instead of flowers for a unique twist on tradition…

While groomsmen are going into battle.. I think?

My role in this event was partial planning and floral design. To keep with the theme, we selected woodland designs with multiple kinds of ferns, pods, and dainty flowers. Centerpieces sat on a bed of moss, which turned out to be quite messy. If you’re replicating this idea then I recommend a hand-held brush/broom and dustpan to sweep up the dirt.

Other Legend of Zelda and Game of Thrones details were incorporated into the cake and décor:

I kind of secretly wished that they would cut that cake with the sword, but don’t they look so cute anyway?

“5.0 Absolutely Superb! Kelsey was a complete life saver during the entire wedding process. She made the planning so much more enjoyable. Loved working with her!” – Bride Cari on Wedding Wire

Special thanks go out to some awesome vendors from this wedding. Notably Peerless Weddings for sharing their amazing photos, Wes Howard for being able to rock a themed ceremony, Stephanie from the Sweetest Day for making yummy cakes every single time, Kevin from Nashville Party Authority for creating a party out of a rather unusual themed music list, and the Barn at Sycamore Farms for being the easiest venue to work with ever.
