I often get requests for sustainable wedding flowers, and there are several ways to go about that. One of my favorites is to use living plants instead of cut flowers, as shown in these centerpieces.
The centerpieces were created using a glass lily bowl style of vase. The dirt is hidden by a pretty layer of dried moss. The centerpieces are filled with plants that thrive in the local environment so guests can take them home and either keep them as houseplants or divide them up and plant in their yards. With a sustainable centerpiece such as this, no part of the design is wasted.
This wedding reception was held at the Governor’s Club mansion in Brentwood, TN. Living centerpieces with a wide base are perfect for outdoor receptions because they will remain stable and won’t blow over the in the wind, unlike tall floral centerpieces.
