There are SO many reasons to choose Acme Feed & Seed for your wedding, especially if you are hosting a destination wedding in Nashville. It is one of my favorite venues for downtown weddings. So, let’s take this opportunity to review the pros of booking your wedding at Acme and a few points to consider when making your decision.
Pro: Amazing Catering on site
If you’re not familiar with Acme Feed & Seed, it is a 4-level building with a restaurant and bar open to the public on the first and second floor, as well as an open bar on the roof. The 3rd floor is their event space, and their on-site catering team will handle all of the food and beverages for your wedding. And let me tell you, the food at Acme is amazing! They have several options for a plated meal, a buffet, or stations for your dinner. The beauty of having catering on site is that is just one less vendor that you have to book separately. And I love that Acme strives for sustainable cooking, fresh food choices, and composting whenever possible. You can’t go wrong with the food from Acme.
Consider: Renting the Rooftop as an add-on
Did you know that you can rent the roof of Acme for your cocktail hour? The roof is generally open to the public, but you can add it to your 3rd floor event space rental and use the rooftop bar for the ceremony or for cocktail hour. The roof has a great view of the city and the river, which your out-of-town guests will really appreciate. And you’ll definitely want to schedule some time into your timeline for couples photos on the roof. These will for sure be some of your favorite photos from the day.
Pro: the Venue is right Downtown
PERFECT for your destination wedding. Guests can take an Uber into town and book hotels right within walking distance of the venue. They never have to leave downtown if they don’t want to. After the wedding, you will be perfectly situated for a downtown after party.
Consider: the Cost of Downtown Parking
If your guests are from out-of-town, then they likely won’t have to worry about parking if they can just take a ride into town. However, local guests may bring their own car. You’ll need to let them know that Acme does not offer parking on site. There are two lots immediately behind and then behind and one street over from the venue, but guests will have to pay to park there. Your vendors that are staying for the wedding, such as your officiant, DJ/musicians, and wedding planner, will have to pay for parking, too, so they will likely have to cover that cost. Acme does have a load-in zone for quick deliveries.
Consider: Will you hold the ceremony in front of the window or the brick wall?
Acme sits on the corner of Broadway and 1st Avenue, which runs along the river, and the 3rd floor space at Acme is longer than it is wide. Traditionally the best options for the ceremony are to hold it at the far end of the room up against the window that faces Broadway, or on the brick side wall opposite of the windows that face 1st Avenue. There are points to consider with each. If you face the window, then you can preset the other half of the room with the reception tables. However, photos in front of the window can be a little darker than you might prefer. Look at the difference in the lighting between these two ceremonies, captured by the same photography company. Both shots are beautiful, but if you don’t want those darker photos, you may consider either having the ceremony in front of the wall or hanging draping over the window to give you a better backdrop for photos.
All in all, you can’t go wrong with booking Acme Feed & Seed for your wedding. It’s one of my favorite venues, so if you’re looking to host your destination wedding in downtown Nashville, let’s look at planning your event at Acme.
